René Teunissen

My name is René Teunissen. I work as Departmental Coordinator International Affairs and International Relations Manager at Avans UAS School of Health. My background is in social work, theatre and human movement science, all still serving as base for teaching in our healthcare department. I am currently also project leader in an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project focusing on South Africa.

I develop strategic internationalisation policy plans and provide internal trainings at Avans, with the purpose to fuel and build a sound international and intercultural context, where students can develop into future proof globally competent professionals. I focus on international networking, bringing together people to share, connect and gain awareness in a globalising world facing major changes in the healthcare and wellbeing field.

For the last two years I served in the EAIE Expert Community Health and Welfare Education as Steering group member jointly setting the direction in which we believe we should move. In our action plan we focus eg on linking to field-specific EU networks, identifying internationalisation ‘needs’ in our specific fields, attracting specialist speakers, stimulate student participation, ensure inter-professional collaboration and develop a sound social media plan.

As Chair, I would feel honoured to help create beautiful internationalisation experiences through the EAIE.
