Mirko Varano

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
Mirko Varano

My name is Mirko Varano and I work as Senior Adviser for International Projects at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. I have been working in the field of internationalisation of higher education since the early 1990s, holding positions at different European higher education institutions and university networks. My main fields of expertise are the development and management of joint programmes and the development and implementation of European-funded projects, for which I regularly collaborate with the Swedish National Agency for Education. In the past two years, I have been a member of the Steering group of the EAIE network Joint Programmes, which I chaired in its last year of activity, allowing me to actively participate in the merger process that led to the creation of the Expert Community European Collaborative Programmes. I believe that my long and comprehensive experience in both key areas covered by this Expert Community makes me an ideal candidate for the position of Chair and represents a guarantee for both continuity and the new vision needed straight away for a fruitful launch towards concrete results. I would also aim to strengthen the voice of practitioners in the relevant fields within and beyond the EAIE.
