Marie Heraughty

National Agency for EU Programmes, Ireland
Marie Heraughty

My name is Marie Heraughty. I have been a member of the General Council since 2020 and have been involved with the EAIE since 2007. I previously chaired the Professional Development Committee and served on the Strategy and Management Expert Committee steering group.

Building on my experience in the General Council, I wish to continue to contribute to the EAIE through my knowledge and understanding of collaborative international education. As the EAIE evolves in a changed scenario of international engagement, oversight of this development is key. Expanding a membership association requires a high level of strategic planning, trust and fiscal responsibility – all attributes I have acquired through professional experience and that I apply to the work of the General Council.

As Chair of the Professional Development Committee, I worked with committee members, the EAIE Office and expert trainers to increase the professionalisation of the EAIE’s training provision. I was directly involved in the quality assurance process and instructional design phase of EAIE workshops.

Having worked on the Erasmus+ programme and its predecessors, as well as in leadership roles in higher education, I currently work at the Irish National Agency for EU programmes, with a specific remit for the PEACE programme.
