Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Kees Kouwenaar

My current position is Senior Advisor International Strategy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Head of Office of the Aurora Network. I stand for election for the EAIE General Council because I feel that 36 years of experience in international education and capacity development have brought me knowledge, skills and understanding that could be beneficial to the EAIE through its General Council.

My key competence is to bring experts, leaders and implementers/ administrators together in a shared vision and meaningful activities. I am not new to the EAIE. A member from its foundation, I served on the board of the professional section for Admission & Credential Evaluation (ACE), on the Conference Planning Committee for the Berlin conference in 1992 and have been involved in setting up the predecessor of the current EAIE Academy. At this phase of my career, I want to serve the EAIE once more.

For the past two years, I have been member of the Conference Committee of AIEA, the Association of International Education Administrators. Outside the field, I am a Trustee of a public pre-university school in Leiden and Advisory Committee member of the Dutch Justice & Peace, which is part of the international J&P movement.
