Juliane Terpe

My name is Juliane Terpe. I have been working as Head of the International Office at HTW Dresden University of Applied Sciences for the last nine years. In total, I have worked actively in the field of internationalisation for higher education institutions for more than 15 years. My international career started at EPF Paris and led me via the IIE in New York to the DAAD in Delhi, before I settled in Dresden. I am an expert in the field of internationalisation, supporting students and teaching staff, as well as university boards, in all matters of international higher education. For the last two years, I have been an Associate of the EAIE Expert Community Language and Culture. I would like to add my view on the task of internationalisation, as head of an international office, to this Expert Community, since internationalisation is inextricably linked to language and culture as an important anchor. Internationalisation strategies typically support the dismantling of barriers in language and culture. Thus, they are two sides of the same coin. I believe that cooperation between language teachers, members of language organisations and international officers like me can be extremely fruitful for the Expert Community.
