Joanne Pagèze

I am a university teacher at the Department of Languages and Cultures at the University of Bordeaux, France and have recently taken up the position of Vice President for internationalisation. I have a strong interest in English medium instruction and international teaching and learning. Since 2014, I have been project leader of Défi International, a university-wide teacher development programme for EMI and international classroom and am currently carrying out action research on this context. I have a strong belief in the value of multilingual international education for developing intercultural knowledge and understanding but also as a vector for the wider transformation of learning and teaching in higher education – essential in the context of our globalised world. I would like to join the EAIE’s Expert Community Language and Culture to be able to develop and further promote multilingual, multicultural learning. I am a board member of the European Language Council and assistant-editor for its journal, the European Journal of Language Policy. I am also a participant in the European Strategic Partnership EQUIIP, working to develop quality teacher development for international programmes.
