My name is Jason Williams and I am the Head of Computing at Cardiff Metropolitan University and have been a keen advocate of internationalisation within the university. I have worked for over 20 years in transnational education with partner universities and I am an active member of the Businet organisation that promotes internationalisation along with the Magellan programme. My experience of teaching has taught me the importance of education on an international stage and I have spent many years carrying the torch of internationalisation, bringing light to the dark corners of IT programmes. Developing student awareness of internationalisation within IT is challenging, as they do not necessarily see the advantages of exploring their subject outside the comfort of their keyboard. However, IT students at Cardiff Metropolitan University have grown to become culturally aware through being introduced to internationalisation through online projects leading to exchanges that enhance and strengthen their personal and professional profile. If this can be done within computing, it can be done with any subject.  As someone who has spent many years wrestling with the problems that we face as educators in promoting internationalisation, I believe that I can bring a wealth of experience to the EAIE.
