Gabriele Abermann

My name is Gabriele Abermann and I am a recently retired Professor of English and Intercultural Communication at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, I have served as Director of International Relations and Vice Rector for teaching and internationalisation. I was responsible for our internationalisation strategy and its implementation in cooperation with the faculties. I have extensive university teaching and presentation experience locally and abroad and have coordinated the EU-funded university-enterprise cooperation project, SKILL2E with 12 partners from seven countries, focusing on intercultural competence acquisition in transnational placements. As one of the Austrian national Bologna experts since 2009, I have advised universities as well as co-organised and facilitated training and information events on all aspects of internationalisation. My experiences as an academic, consultant and in the university management have helped me understand and involve the perspectives of all stakeholders. As a frequent presenter at EAIE conferences and EAIE trainer, I believe in the EAIE’s role as a major driver for advancing internationalisation and its relevance for the quality of higher education. I think I can make a substantial contribution to strengthen and extend the EAIE community. It would therefore be an honour to serve as a General Council member.
