Andries Verspeeten

This is a job-share with Alessandra Gallerano.

I am Andries Verspeeten, Policy Adviser at the International Office of Ghent University, Belgium. Much of my professional experience is linked to joint study programmes and Erasmus+ projects. I also provide follow-up on European Union policy in higher education and internationalisation, partly by liaising with institutional networks and associations. In recent years I have contributed to institutional policy developments such as the establishment of synergies with colleagues in EU research and innovation funding, as well as in responsible internationalisation.

Within the EAIE context, I have been sharing experiences and practices for almost a decade, in conference sessions, as a trainer, through the written word and in recent years as a member of the Joint Programmes steering committee.

At the beginning of this new decade, Europe finds itself at a crossroads. Collaboration and an open view of the world remain crucial. Higher education has an important role to play in the safeguarding of open-minded, inclusive and sustainable societies. It is my wish to contribute to this from a holistic viewpoint, rooted within a practitioner’s experience, by serving as a Steering group member of the European Collaborative Programmes Expert Community.
