Alejandra Vicencio

I am Alejandra Vicencio, Head of International Mobility at Northumbria University. I have been working in international education for 20 years. Currently, I manage all aspects of international mobility programmes for students and staff, funding and partner relations.

As a former student from Chile who is now a successful professional in the UK, I am passionate about internationalising higher education and I based my postgraduate research on this topic in a development context. I have managed internationalisation programmes in Latin America and Europe for both incoming and outgoing students, and I founded a Spanish immersion school in Chile in 2008.

I have instigated various positive changes at Northumbria that have led to the integration of international education within strategic objectives and key performance indicators. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Chile and a Master’s in international development from Northumbria.

I have represented Northumbria in several organisations and have presented at events, such as NAFSA, ACU, AIEA, and IIE. I have been volunteering for the EAIE since I joined in 2014 as a session evaluator, and I have been an EAIE mentor for the past five years.
