Highly experienced international and intercultural educator with 50 years working in this field

R. Michael is Professor of International and Intercultural Education at the University of Minnesota, USA, where he teaches and advises in the Leadership for International/Intercultural Education PhD programme. As an active member of the EAIE, he serves as an instructor in the Academy, presents at Annual Conferences, and works with the Expert Community Internationalisation at Home. He was educated at the University of California, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern history, and at Stanford University, from which he holds a Master’s in sociology and a Doctorate in international education. R. Michael has fifty years of professional international education experience, beginning with his Peace Corps service in Turkey as a cross-cultural trainer. As an international education faculty member and academic administrator at the University of Minnesota, he has been involved in the internationalisation of higher education, education abroad/mobility, international students and scholars, and global education partnerships. He has also worked in the public and private sectors as a teacher/trainer, researcher, consultant and programme specialist in international, intercultural and global education.
