Infographic: Knowledge and skills among internationalisation staff in Central and Eastern Europe

In order for internationalisation of higher education to reach its true potential, staff working in the field should be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills. The EAIE Barometer provides new data on the tools European internationalisation practitioners require to further professionalise their field. The Central and Eastern Europe* (CEE) region is often underrepresented in data on internationalisation. This infographic sheds light on the knowledge and skill needs of internationalisation professionals in the CEE region, highlighting country-level results that stand out.
* In the EAIE Barometer, entities referred to as ‘countries’ are higher education systems that are members of the EHEA. Central and Eastern Europe here refers to the countries as defined by the OECD to be part of the region i.e. Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovenia. Participants from the Slovak Republic did not reach the threshold of respondents to be included in the infographic. The Russian Federation and Ukraine have also been included in accordance with the European Commission’s categorization of non-EU regions. The designation ‘country’ is without prejudice to positions on status of any given entities.
The data presented here is taken from the EAIE Barometer report and shows the perceptions of individuals working at higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe. The responses were gathered through the EAIE network and snowball sampling on social media in spring 2014. The full Barometer report can be purchased here.
