Future leaders of the EAIE

Last week, the EAIE General Council and three EAIE Committees met in Västerås, the EAIE President’s Swedish home town, to discuss future strategies and plans for the Association, and to learn of the new EAIE Leadership for the next two years. The EAIE President Gudrun Paulsdottir, together with her institution, Mälardalen University, provided wonderful hospitality for the meetings which play a crucial role in driving developments of the Association forward.
EAIE election results unveiled
A major talking point of the meetings in Västerås were the elections. Since April, EAIE members have been voting for the individuals whom they wish to see on the new EAIE Leadership, taking office from September 2012–September 2014. Last week, amid great anticipation, the results were announced.
New Vice-President
When the current Vice-President, Hans-Georg van Liempd, takes over as EAIE President later this year, Laura Howard will become the new EAIE Vice-President. Laura is a lecturer in the Department of Didactics of Language and Literature of the University of Cadiz – UCA, Spain. She has 12 years experience in international relations management, holding several posts within the UCA including Director of International Relations and General Director of External Promotion. Laura is also currently Vice-President of the Compostela Group of Universities.
New Board members
There are two new EAIE Board members who will join Dan Ole Faaborg on the Board: Dora Longoni, Head of the International Projects Service of the Politecnico di Milano, Italy and Kathleen van Heule, Head of the International Relations Office at University College Ghent.
For the entire list of the election results, EAIE members can log on to the Member Centre and visit the Elections page. We look forward to officially welcoming the new Leadership during the handover at the EAIE Conference in September.
