Conference programme
This year's conference theme is 'Reaching for new shores - opportunities and trends in the internationalisation of European higher education'. A theme that speaks to Norway's strong maritime tradition also seems to be most fitting for the current tides of change in the world of higher education. Reaching for new shores is for the pioneers who see opportunity and are prepared to face the risks and overcome the perils they are likely to encounter on their journeys to hitherto unknown destinations. Reaching for new shores also means being open to new encounters with different people and identifying innovative ways of working together that will bring mutual benefits to all the parties concerned. That to me seems to be a very appropriate way of describing the work of international educators today as they seek to convince their institutions to explore new possibilities, move in new directions and embrace change as an opportunity for growth and enrichment. The EAIE Conference Programme Committee has put together a conference that will give you the chance to debate, discuss and explore the many and multifaceted issues and challenges of international education alongside fellow professionals, some old, some new, from all over the world. We trust you will find the sessions, seminars, workshops and special events stimulating, enjoyable, and to the high standards that you have come to expect from us.
