Transatlantic dialogue

The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) and the European Association of International Educators (EAIE) are pleased to invite AIEA and EAIE members to participate in the 'Transatlantic dialogue: seminar on current issues in the administration of international education.' The transatlantic dialogue in Trondheim provides a unique and exciting opportunity to meet, share ideas, and have an impact on international education. The transatlantic dialogue is the third joint EAIE–AIEA seminar, following the successful seminars held before the EAIE conferences in Kraków, Poland and Basel, Switzerland.

Date
9–11 September 2007, preceding the
19th Annual EAIE Conference in Trondheim
, Norway.

Location and accommodation
Clarion Collection Hotel Bakeriet in Trondheim. A series of single and double rooms have been reserved. Participants may extend their stay for the EAIE conference at this hotel. Participants in the seminar will receive full details later.

Participants
Nine members from AIEA and eight members from EAIE will be selected. They will play a very large role in shaping the agenda by proposing topics for discussion. Critical transatlantic issues will be at the forefront with a focus on collaboration and competition, exchanges, comprehensive internationalisation at home and abroad, education and research, degree structures, etc. For more information on topics please visit the AIEA website.

Goal
The overall goal of the seminar is to bring participants together to establish strong professional networks that are built on trust, share experiences, and brainstorm for the future. Perhaps the most important part of the seminar is the opportunity to meet in a relatively isolated place, in a non-threatening atmosphere, where participants are able to freely share information and ideas, and engage in dialogue. Afterwards recommendations will be made to AIEA and EAIE for dissemination of information and implementing policy and procedures.

Fee
Grants from AIEA and EAIE will cover part of the basic costs of the Trondheim transatlantic dialogue. Participants pay a seminar fee of EUR 265 and pay one night hotel (EUR 140). The second hotel night as well as all meals (breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday, dinner on Sunday and Monday) are included in the seminar fee. After selection, participants will receive an invoice from the EAIE-secretariat.
