The field of international education is relatively young, and is continually expanding. Whereas those who came into the field 15 or so years ago had to develop their own tools and methods of working, there is today a growing need for more systematic advice and models, particularly for Europe, which is underlined by the interest in training courses offered by the EAIE and others. Training courses will continue to play a major role but in order to reach a wider audience with easily accessible material other forms are necessary. These might, of course, be web-based but ease of accessibility often means having a text close at hand on the bookshelf. The EAIE Editorial Committee therefore launched this 'toolkit' series in 2005. The volumes will form an interconnected series covering the different facets of the field and thus forming a complete set of basics. They will be valid for a supranational (primarily European) context and provide practical information and material which could be applied in different types of offices and for different categories of personnel.
The Series Editor Michael Cooper (recently retired from University of Karlstad, Sweden) ensures standardisation of style and presentation in all the volumes and clear cross-referencing. Each volume has its own Volume Editor who works closely with the Series Editor, and assembles the material from individual authors or contributors. If you would like to contribute your expertise to one of these manuals, please contact the Series Editor or the Publications Department for more details.
