Ewa Derkowska-Rybicka is the head of the International Programmes Office and institutional Erasmus coordinator at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. She graduated in physics in 1978 and worked in the area of monuments restoration. In 1989 she was employed at the IRO of her mother university where she was responsible for European Programmes as TEMPUS, SOCRATES and Leonardo da Vinci. In 2003 she was appointed head of the new International Programmes Office, the activities of which cover both educational and R&D programmes. Her office deals now with 400 outgoing and 100 incoming students and ca. 50 international projects. Member of the EAIE since 1993. Her professional interests focus on internationalization strategies, especially the quality issues. If elected, Ewa will promote the activities of SAFSA in Eastern Europe, esp. in the area of study abroad opportunities and intercultural communication.
