Barbara A. Boldt, an American who has lived in Europe for more than 14 years, is an international educator who is passionate about teaching and developing intercultural competencies in students studying abroad. Ms. Boldt currently teaches a course called Skills for International Management to Erasmus and other exchange students at the Universita’ di Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) in Castellanza, Italy. The course is designed to make cultural learning explicit and to facilitate the development of basic intercultural competencies while the students are having an experience of cultural difference. Ms. Boldt also teaches two courses related to international management in the Master’s in the Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland. If elected, Ms. Boldt would contribute her expertise in intercultural communication toward the accomplishment of the SAFSA board goals.
