Seminar o4: Entrepreneurial universities
Entrepreneurship today is recognised as central to economic growth. The 2000 Lisbon Strategy to make Europe “the most dynamic and competitive knowledge based economy” saw higher education as key to this agenda. Since then, the concept of an ‘entrepreneurial’ or ‘business-oriented’ university with a distinctive mission has gained ground in both Europe and North America. The seminar will look at this concept, its emergence and development, and how this is reflected in distinctive and defining missions, as well as how such an entrepreneurial culture can be developed in mission-specific contexts.
