workshop 17 EMPLOI
Developing employability skills through international work placements
Wednesday 16 September and Thursday 17 September 13.30–17.00 (Wed) and 08.30–12.00 (Thurs)
International work experience provides an excellent opportunity for developing all kinds of skills which employers look for - such as team working, adaptability, independence and ability to work with different cultures - as long as the student knows how to identify and describe what he or she has learnt. This workshop is designed to help you understand what are the skills employers look for, and how your students can develop and then demonstrate these skills, by undertaking international work experience. Students need support to be prepared and make the most of an international experience. They also need training to be able to reflect on what they learnt, to recognise and describe what skills have been developed. This workshop is designed to give participants the tools to help their students through this process, so that their international experiences translate into improved employability.
