If you are a candidate in the EAIE elections, you need to introduce yourself to the voters. An "election statement" is therefore invited from all candidates, and these are published in the ballot materials. For the top posts of Vice-President/President-elect and the Executive Board, a photograph is also requested.

An election statement should not be just a list of posts you have held or your CV. It should be a descriptive text, in which you introduce yourself to the voters. It should include, for example:
  • your current job and the name of the institution for which you work
  • some biographical information
  • a brief indication of the contribution you hope to make to the work of the EAIE if elected
  • Please note the statement must be written in the third person unless you are nominated for vice-presidency in which case it can be written in the first person.
In order to make the election as fair as possible, the election statements are limited in length:
    • 150 words for candidates for Professional Section Boards
    • 250 words for candidates for the Executive Board or Professional Section Chair
    • 350 words for candidates for the Vice-Presidency
Candidates are strongly encouraged to send their election statements (and photos if required) to the EAIE Secretariat by 31 March 2008. However, a nomination is still valid even if the election statement (and photo, if required) is not received by that date. To ensure inclusion in the ballot materials, the election statement should be sent to the EAIE Secretariat by 1 May 2008 at the latest.
