EMPLOI represents a range of interests for professionals working in the area of connecting higher education with the world of work. These interests may relate to preparing students for entering the labour market, helping them to make informed career decisions or arranging placements with a work experience provider or facilitating full-time employment with a graduate employer.

Examples of practice represented by our work will include:

• Work placements: these may be part of an academic programme or extra-curricular activity
• Employer-engagement and liaison: any work that involves the promotion of students and graduates as a source of talent for potential employers
• Careers guidance: colleagues who are working in the area of providing student guidance and advice for those wishing to enter the world of work
• Careers education: those practitioners who are involved in the preparation of students and graduates to succeed in employer recruitment and selection processes
• Enterprise skills and commercial awareness training: those involved in helping students acquire and recognise how they can add value to a prospective employer
• Career, employability and placement centre managers: those responsible for managing resources and systems associated with the services above.
